Summer field seasons conclude

Fall brings not just the start of a new academic semester but also the end of the field season for our projects. Rico finished a second long field season for his MSc, radio-tracking fledgling Hoopoes around the orchards and vineyards in Valais to see how long they survive, where they move, and what types of habitat they are using. He was ably helped by Lisa who finished her BSc fieldwork on fledgling behavioral development and put in many additional hours of radio tracking. They were both helped by Montaine, a visiting student from France, who also collected a ton of pilot data on a new project regarding the impact of vineyard nets on animal mortality. We will miss her energy! Célestin finished a second season of intensive monitoring of Wallcreeper territories in Valais and is now putting the finishing touches to his MSc thesis.
